We, on a secular standpoint, have celebrated Valentine's Day this past week. We all like to show our mate how much we love them by some means. I gave Sarah a little stuffed animal. It is a gorilla that is dressed like a boxer with boxing gloves, etc. When you press its hand it says, "You're a knock out!" Sarah gave me a couple of cards, which were sentimental in their very nature and meant a lot to me. Tears came in my eyes. Our society keeps coming up with such days seeking to cause us to spend money on flowers, candy, cards, etc. Doing things we long to do because we love each other. We should indeed show our mate we love her on a daily basis but this brings to mind something else.

We should love the Lord even more than our mate and we should draw close to Him not on a yearly basis but a daily basis as well. What do you do to show your Lord that you love Him? He longs for such expressions of our love. John 4:23 says, "But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him."

Do you pray daily, 1 Thess. 5:17? Do you read His Word daily, Acts 17:11? Do you attend all the services of the church, Heb. 10:25? Do you put your heart into the worship services of the church, John 4:24? Do you give on the first day of the week freely and generously, 2 Cor. 9:6-7 (the Jews in the Old Testament gave at the least a tenth)? Do you bring up your children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, Eph. 6:4? Do you tell the truth when you could tell a lie and have an advantage with some people, Rev. 21:8? Do you pray for your enemies knowing they have a soul that needs saving, Matt. 5:44? Do you treat all men as you would have them treat you, Matt. 7:12? Do you ever seek to glorify God in your example before others, Matt. 5:16? Do you obey the laws of the land to please God, Rom. 13:1? Do you esteem others better than yourself, for their good, Phil. 2:3? Do you really love God with all your heart, Matt. 22:37.

Yes, we are encouraged to show our love for those we love in this country. Let us be impressed and let us seek to find the ways God has instructed us to show our love for Him. We go out of our way to show our loved ones that we love them. Let us go all out to show our love for our Lord. He deserves it far more than do we. He has loved us far more than we ever will deserve. He has provided all good things for us both physical and spiritual. He has created us and sustained us and even given His Son to die for us that we may have eternal life in the place He is preparing for us. May He help us to love Him in a manner that is pleasing to Him in all humility and honesty. He is indeed worthy of all praise and honor and glory. We do love Him! However unworthy we are, He remains true and honest and loving and merciful and just and holy. We love Him because He loved us and He is worthy of our love and adoration! Let us show Him our love.
